Wonderboy Shantanu Maheshwari
He is a proud Marwari
A true Marwari at heart, Shantanu Maheshwari took a heritage trip to Rajasthan to pay homage to his roots. Some years back, this actor-dancer took a well-deserved break from his projects and visited the land of his family. He had a gala old time enjoying the unmatched warmth of Rajasthani hospitality, shopping in the local markets, visiting the grand forts and palaces, and relishing the delicious local foods.
He loves Marwari cuisine
One shouldn’t be fooled by Maheshwari’s slender build that is more a product of his active lifestyle as a professional dancer than anything else. The new Bollywood star is an ardent foodie through and through. He has a voracious appetite and loves to cook and eat Indian food and also has a self-confessed sweet tooth. He loves his mother’s aloo tikki and palak paneer and often reminisces the chaat-flavoured street foods available back home in Kolkata. He is very fond of Marwari cuisine and more particularly makhania lassi and dal baati churma.
He is passionate about fitness
In spite of his busy schedule, Maheshwari pursues his hobbies in his downtime which include food and fitness. The actor is dedicated to fitness and works out every day of the week. Though he does not see himself as a gym person, he prefers to work out in his zone and keeps himself fit through dance and through yoga and cardio. Furthermore, he does not buy into the idea of crash diets and cheat meals and follows the school of thought that one shouldn’t restrict oneself and should eat what feels right for one’s body. He enjoys cooking his own food, especially chapatti, sabzi and fried rice.

He had a great experience with Gangubai Kathiawadi
Maheshwari recently starred in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Gangubai Kathiawadi alongside superstars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. The film’s success spelt good things for him, as it represented his Bollywood debut. It also represented new horizons as it was the first time on screen that his talent as an actor was called to the fore rather than as a dancer. He received immense praise for his role, with critics and audiences lauding his performance as Afsaan, his screen presence and his chemistry with Alia Bhatt.
This devil wears Abu-Sandeep
He essayed the role of the devil in couturiers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s scintillating film The Dance of the Devil that melds delicious fashion with a deeply spiritual message that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. A rich, mystical tale that travels between Heaven and Earth, it mesmerises the physical senses and the soul. A multi-layered feast for the eyes and the spirit, it is a powerful lesson that explores the ability of the collective human spirit to overcome darkness and embrace the divine within ourselves and in each other.
