The former union minister and Rajya Sabha member, Murli Deora, passed away at his home in the wee hours of November 24, 2014, after a prolonged illness. He was 77 and is survived by wife Hema and sons Milind and Mukul.
A man known for his warmth and camaraderie that transcended party lines, Deora was as much loved and respected by colleagues and opponents as by civil servants, bureaucrats, head honchos of corporate houses and the endless stream of supplicants from his south Mumbai constituency, many of whom were students seeking college admissions or suitable employment.
