Seeking Investment In Rajasthan

The 11th edition of India Stone Mart, the prestigious exhibition of the stone industry, was held at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Center (JECC) in Sitapura Industrial Area. Inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, the exhibition was organised by the Center for Development of Stones (CDOS), with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) as co-organiser. Gehlot called upon the foreign investors participating in this exhibition to invest in the state, insisting that it is a completely conducive environment for investment. “There is no labour unrest and the law and order situation is better here. Rajasthan is suitable for investment,” he said. The state government is forming the Rajasthan Industrial Security Force on the lines of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), to fulfil the budget announcement.


Vintage Luxury Returns To The Ganges

India’s last surviving Paddle Steamer from 1945 has been restored to its former glory by Eastern Navigation Pvt. Ltd., an inland water transport and marine infrastructure player. The third-generation familyrun enterprise, run by the Singhees who originally hail from Sujangarh in Rajasthan, look at the ‘Bengal Paddle’ taking India back to the golden era of the Bengal Delta. “They have not just restored but resurrected a piece of naval and cultural heritage and made it accessible to the people of Kolkata again,” say Yaswant Kumar Singhee and Basant Kumar Singhee, Directors of ENPL. The Bengal Paddle offers a singular experience in all of India as far as river experiences go, as it is the last surviving Paddle Boat from the colonial Era in Asia. Ready to sail?

Man With A Mission

Hukumchand Patidar, a 10th class dropout and organic farmer, is a part of the committee that designs curriculum in educational institutes for school boards and agricultural universities. At 62, the kurta pyjama-clad farmer who owns a fruit orchard at Manpura village in Jhalawar, was selected as a part of the 14-member national committee that comes under the Indian Council for Agriculture Research-ICAR), a body under the Union Ministry of Agriculture. The committee will be introducing organic farming as a discipline in educational institutes. The only non-academic person in the committee, Patidar is excited about this development. In 2018, he had received Padma Shri for his innovations in organic farming in the desert state of Rajasthan.


12 Films, 12 Cities, Different Languages

For the first time in the history of Indian Cinema, 12 films of various Indian languages will be launched on a grand scale by JIFF (Jaipur International Film Festival). The Torch Campaign for the festival started in November continued for three months, in 12 cities of the country with 12 full-length films of various Indian languages of ‘JIFF Indian Panorama’. The campaign will culminate at the 15th edition in January. What makes it special is that it will have a participation of one thousand producers, directors, actors, actresses and film professionals.


Marwari Horses To Serve In President Entourage

Six Marwari horses were exported from Jodhpur to Bangladesh for carrying the cart of Bangladesh’s President. “Marwari horses are one of the finest breeds of horses and considered the most elegant and enduring breed among all. These horses have been ordered by Bangladesh police for the horse carriage of the President of Bangladesh. It is a matter of great pride for us,” said Jangjeet Singh Nathawat, Secretary of the All India Marwari Horse Society and Marwari Horse Stud Book Registration Society (MHSRS) of India. This is for the first time that this indigenous breed of horse from the desert has been exported.


Awarded For Impactful Contribution

Sanjay Ghodawat, President of Sanjay Ghodawat Foundation, was felicitated with the Ahimsa International Award, for his impactful contribution in Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainability and Social Impact. The award was given at the hands of Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Governor of Maharashtra during the foundation day celebration of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti and World Peace Centre held in Raj Bhavan, Mumbai. A role model for youngsters and an inspiring personality, Ghodawat believes in giving back to society what is rightfully earned from it. The foundation has time and again helped multiple causes for the betterment of society—be it the plantation of over 3 lakh trees or taking a forefront control of restoring and helping floodaffected areas of Kolhapur and Sangli through various initiatives.
