4With a promise to make the wedding of your dreams a reality, the Marwar Mega Wedding Show this year gave couples-to-be the opportunity to meet the industry’s top vendors from across India. The three-day shopping extravaganza brought all the essentials needed to plan the perfect wedding, including the dreamiest line-up of wedding designers, couturiers planners, decor specialists, caterers, beauty experts and jewellery houses.

The Marwar Mega Wedding Show was held at the World Trade Centre, Mumbai, from June 25-27, with a red carpet rolled out for visitors. It provided couples more than enough time to meet with professional wedding suppliers, experience their products and ensure they had chosen the right people to contribute to their D-day.

2When it comes to Indian weddings, it is jewellery that rules the roost. This year too the show had on offer an exclusive range—be they heritage heirlooms or modernist bling—of necklaces, bangles, bracelets, cuffs and earrings that appealed every distinguished visitor. Beauti Art, one of the participants, for example, showcased a mesmerising collection of silver jewellery studded with cubic zirconia, American diamonds, vilandi stones and polkis, in addition to a jadau bridal collection. S P Shah Jewellers, yet another participant, displayed gold jewellery pieces that were a wonderful bridge between conventional style and modern finesse with intricate designs that reflected traditional roots. Dhadda Jewellery came up with an exquisitely handcrafted range of versatile gold jewels encrusted with diamonds, uncut diamonds and coloured precious gemstones.

1For the visitors, the show was a walk through the season’s wedding couture trends, with resplendent collections of hand-embroidered lehngas, saris and anarkalis in varying shades of red and orange and also gold, blue and shades of green. The highlight was the bridal collection by Asbaab, a bespoke design studio from Mumbai, which was aesthetically pleasing with its perfect blend of Indian and Western influences. Then there was designer Naina Jain’s The Royal Benarasis collection, featuring fine Bandhani saris, lehnagas and suits handcrafted from beautiful Banarasi weaves and silks and adorned with intricate zardozi and chikankari embroideries.

A perfect hairstyle and picture perfect makeup is what keeps every bride smiling. Urmi Jamshid, Senior Associate–Events, JCB Salons Pvt Ltd, says, “The looks for ‘Biguine Brides’ have been created bearing in mind the celebrations and traditions of an Indian wedding. They are sure to add a touch of colour, glamour and magic to the bride on her special day.”

3The USP of the Marwar Mega Wedding Show this year was the interactive sessions conducted by a line-up of industry experts. Sophistication and creativity are what every couple looks for when it comes to documenting their wedding. Pre-wedding videos documenting the couple’s story, a full wedding movie covering all the events shot in documentary style, candid photos are all the rage these day.s. A speaker at the event was the Photo Diary’s founder Monisha Ajgaonkar, who spoke about how contemporary photography tries to bring in the fun factor into weddings, her brand’s journey till date and the plethora of services they provide. “I had a good experience at the Marwar Mega Wedding Show. Not only did we receive a lot of enquiries, but it was great interacting with the guests,” said Ajagaonkar.

RichFeel, the largest chain of hair and scalp clinics in India, offered a complimentary hair rejuvenation therapy to visitors. Mrs India Queen of Substance 2015, Priyanka Khurana Goyal, promoted their Richfeel Ana detox, a procedure that uses natural proteins to detoxify scalp and repair hair damages. Dr Apoorva Shah, India’s leading trichologist and founder, Richfeel Trichology Centre and Spa, said, “We got the opportunity to meet several people with hair problems and address their queries. I look forward to many more Marwar Mega Wedding Shows in the future.”

Parthip Tyagarajan, Director of Weddingsutra.com, an information resource on celebrity and destination weddings, said, “The first Marwar Mega Wedding Show was unveiled in 2001. The event has grown by leaps and bounds and is a sought-after platform for creative entrepreneurs. We were on board for the first three editions, and are proud to be associated with its fifteenth edition. We hope the organisers continue the good work, and hold the exhibition in new places within the city and outside.”

Indeed, it’s correct to say that the Marwar Mega Wedding Show 2015 was a grand success with both visitors and stallholders.
