HIGH STREET PHOENIX CELEBRATES DAAN UTSAV – THE FESTIVAL OF PHILANTHROPY
To extend support to social issues such as mental and physical disability, child sexual abuse and cancer, Mumbai’s premier retail centre, High Street Phoenix, recently celebrated the Daan Utsav—The Festival of Philanthropy (earlier known as Joy of Giving Week), a national movement aimed at creating awareness and inculcating values of social and moral responsibility among the citizens of the country. The three-day event, held from October 6–8, 2015, at the High Street Phoenix, saw three NGOs—Jai Vakeel School, Arpan and Sanjeevani—organise various events such as display and sale of artworks, street plays, interactive games, musical performances, etc—all aimed at engaging visitors and getting them to patronise and extend their support to the NGOs and the less fortunate.
JK TYRE TO ACQUIRE KESORAM’S HARIDWAR TYRE MANUFACTURING UNIT
JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, India’s third largest tyre company, is all set to acquire the Cavendish Industries Ltd (CIL)-owned tyre manufacturing unit at Laskar, near Haridwar in Uttarakhand. The CIL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kesoram Industries, a BK Birla Group flagship company that produces a range of tyres, tubes and flaps. With this acquisition, JK Tyre will see a marked capacity addition. It will also provide the company an entry into the lucrative two- and three-wheeler market, apart from augmenting its existing truck and bus radials segment. JK Tyre is a part of the JK Group and has Raghupati Singhania as its chairman and managing director.
COUGAR MOTORSPORT TO ORGANISE SIXTH EDITION OF ‘THE DESERT DASH’
Spurred on by past successes, Cougar Motorsport Pvt Ltd is back with the sixth edition of The Desert Dash, a five-night luxury self-drive expedition across Rajasthan that will see owners of premium cars and SUVs drive through a five-city itinerary comprising Jaipur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Khimsar and Jodhpur. Intended primarily for corporate executives and business owners, the desert safari will take participants through scenic routes as well as sand dunes and salt lakes, punctuated with stays at some of the most luxurious hotels along the way. SIYARAM ACQUIRES OWNERSHIP RIGHTS TO MAKE, MARKET ‘Cadini’ PRODUCTS
Siyaram Silk Mills Ltd, the largest producer of blended high fashion suitings, shirtings and apparels, has bought ownership rights to manufacture and market Italy’s popular lifestyle brand, Cadini, for its fabric segment in India, Sri Lanka and a few other countries in the Middle East. With this, Siyaram will now offer Italian luxury and feel, but at reasonable prices by customising the products for the Indian market. In keeping with the needs of the Indian market, the company has developed an exclusive range of fabrics in long staple cotton, Giza cotton, linen, cashmere, etc.
