The curtains have been brought down to India’s largest fashion platform and the most spectacular fashion event of the year, Lakme Fashion Week. Jointly organised by Lakmé & RISE Worldwide and the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) at Jio World Garden in Mumbai, the fashion week was a splendid story of vibrancy, timeless fashion and effortless glamour. The celebrities walking the ramp to cheer their favourite designers added to the drama and dazzle with their stunning presence on the ramp.

Day 1 of LFW X FDCI put the spotlight on sustainable fashion. Anavila’s Dabu collection was devoted to the beauty of the sari and its graceful and elegant drape. Undoubtedly, the focal point of the show was the unstitch beauty of the sari and its fluid creativity. ‘FDCI Innovators’ showcased different perspectives on French culture with designer Nitin Bal Chauhan’s ‘The Outsider’ with an unconventional inspiration and label Akaaro by Gaurav Jai Gupta’s ‘The Sky is Mine’ collection inspired by the project ‘The Sky is Blue’ from the international Klein Blue that the French artist visualised. INIFD Launchpad created a perfect fashion harmony of ‘East Meets West’. NIFD GenNext was a dazzling display of fresh creative talent.

R|ELAN presented The Circular Design Challenge Show on the sustainable fashion day. Bodice celebrated the triumph of colour with an array of fluid silhouettes. Vaishali’s signature style showcased wearable art, meticulously recreating elements of nature through textures, fabrics and unconventional silhouettes. The grand Khadi Show ended the day with unique and thought-provoking collections as a tribute to Khadi, the fabric of nation.


The Day 2 of LFW X FDCI focused on inspiration, vibrance and design. The runway celebrated stylised, trendy and flirtatious fashion. The Antar-Agni label by designer Ujjawal Dubey created a fashionable stir each season and struck the right style notes. The Varun Nidhika collection was an enchanting fashion offering. The DEME label by Gabriella Demetriades unveiled fashion nostalgia, Aakriti showcased her flirtatious label, and Limerick celebrated the rich, cultural, heritage of Kashmir.

The Line Outline collection created a stir on the ramp for men’s wear. Sameer Madan’s Untamed – the Wild Thing collection projected an exuberance that pointed to mystery. R|Elan Fabrics 2.0 ‘A warrior’s journey’ collection was inspired by the Kabuki dance drama theatre and Six5Six label’s ‘The Uniform’ collection made the choice easy yet fashionable.


On Day 3 of LFW X FDCI Tarun Tahiliani presented Sheer Drama collection, an unapologetic ode to the glam drape. Eshaa Amiin, Jaajabor and Shahin Mannan’s lines were a riot of colour, fabrics and styles. One Infinite presented a colourful bridal trousseau offering by Annu’s Creation and Disha Patil’s collection Hasu was inspired by the Kanji in Japanese for the Lotus Flower. Anushree Reddy showcased a colourful medley that revealed a fusion of hues starting with shades of sunset, soft pastels, exaggerated gold touches and contrasting tones.

Punit Balana celebrated Rajasthan and its textures with shades of surkhlaal, gulaabi, gulaal and pickle green for a multi-seasonal Utsav collection. Abhishek Sharma’s Coral Reefs line was inspired by the aquatic life while Ritika Mirchandani’s Fair La Fete collection was homage to joyful fashion. Arpita Mehta’s collection truly summarised everyone’s dream vacation wardrobe.


Day 4 of LFW X FDCI presented Namrata Joshipura’s The First Order collection that took the glam quotient to new heights. Monisha Jaising captivated the runway with her luxury resort wear complemented by Reliance Jewels Thanjavur collection inspired by the Golden Period of the Chola Empire in Thanjavur. One Infinite showcased stunning looks by Bhumika Sharma, Seema Mahajan and Sejal Kamdar, supported with style, elegance, free-spiritedness and a luminous oasis of colour.

The mood for Rina Dhaka revolved around large doses of Dark Romanticism on the ramp with an unconventional fashion story. Intertwine, a dramatic collection by Saisha Shinde was ultra glam and created a dramatic impact. Pearl Academy’s First Cut show was a kaleidoscope of bold, daring, impressive, fashion in an assortment of fabrics, colours, silhouettes and detailing to project the futuristic fashion.

Nirmooha brought an unusual geometric exuberance with feminine fashionable looks on the ramp. Ranna Gill set the ramp on fire with her vibrant, colourful and effervescent Casa dei Fiori collection. Siddartha Tytler moved back to the future with 2085 collection. His new fashion genre called ‘Athluxury’ was a fashion amalgamation of stylish glam fashion stories.

Lakmé & Manish Malhotra got together to diffuse Retag Gold Diggers, Drama Queens, High Maintenance, Sugar Baby and the like at the Lakmé #UnapologeticallyMÉ Grand Finale. Taking inspiration from Lakme’s iconic statement, the designer showcased his Diffuse collection and redefined the power of fashion and beauty.
