Art Revival – Draft

Feb 9, 2015

An inaugural dinner, hosted by H H Rajmata Padmini Devi of Jaipur and H E François Richier, Ambassador of France to India, to formally launch the high-profile ‘Treasures of Rajasthan’ show, saw attendance from a host of royals as also the capital’s high and mighty. Titled ‘Treasures of Rajasthan Season II—A Lifestyle Exhibition’, the gala was held at the French Embassy in New Delhi.

The two-day exhibition, held from November 21–22, at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, was organised under the aegis of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum Trust which is spearheaded by Princess Diya Kumari of Jaipur and supported by the French Embassy. The trust’s association with the embassy is aimed at laying the foundations of a mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries, which should help promote a healthy exchange of ideas and revival of the arts. The event’s objective was to promote Rajasthan as a tourist destination and, more importantly, encourage and revive its languishing arts and crafts, thereby providing a means of livelihood to the artisans.

Among those gracing the occasion were Maharaj Narendra Singh of Jaipur, H H Maharani Raseshwari Rajya Lakshmi of Jaisalmer, Tikka Shatrujit Singh of Kapurthala, Nawab Kazim Ali Khan of Rampur, Aman Nath, Subodh Gupta and Adarsh Gill.
