Oct 21, 2022

IT’S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR WHEN THE WEDDING SEASON IS IN FULL swing and invites have blocked our calendars. The time wehn we are witnessing our close family members or friends walking down the aisle to tie the nuptial knot and every day seems like a celebration. When it is normal to gorge on the elaborate spread full of rich delicacies at the wedding venue. And when those lip-smacking treats make us forget the health resolutions and efforts we ought to take. Whether a wedding shenanigan, or a bridesmaid or groomsman, or a distant guest, you do fancy looking your best in spite of eating your heart’s fill at the wedding. Understanding that, celebrity Pilates Trainer Namrata Purohit shares quick tips on how to stay fit during the wedding season.

DO LIGHT WORKOUT

Whether you can spare 10 minutes or five, just indulge in light workouts to stay active. The wedding vibe puts us in an eerie mood, but doing it after a break of 1-2 months is an even more tiresome task. A light workout keeps your fitness levels intact without having to start from square one.

GORGE ON RAW FOOD

Until the function or the D-day arrives, switch to raw food such as salads instead of cooked meals. This helps to detoxify your body and keeps the digestion in check.

EAT WITHOUT GUILT

While you are out there amusing your taste buds, there is a little voice in the back of your mind making you feel guilty. Your body tends to detect your anxiety, moods and stress, hence releasing hormones that make you stress out and eat more than usual. So, eat without feeling guilty about eating and you will get as fit as ever during the wedding season.

DRINK LIGHTER

Alcohol is the real cause for skyrocketing those calories. Despite that, it seems unfair to ditch it altogether. Instead, try drinking lighter drinks like gin and tonic or compensate for the heavier drinks by drinking water right after it to feel fuller.

STRATEGISE YOUR DESSERT

The fried jalebi, gulab jamun and kaju katli are undoubtedly mouth-watering and make us gogaga over them. But we have a strategy for all of you with a sweet tooth. Switch to fruit desserts to appease your taste buds or simply eat less of the main course to make room for the dessert. Balancing is the key.
